HISTORY        MERCHANDISE        CONTACT        MUSIC        STORIES

Hi, I'm Tommy K. from hopeshot,
I play & sing popular songs in support of:

-  Alcohol Abuse Awareness  -

-  Depression Awareness  -

-  Suicide Prevention  -

Having depression and being depressed,
are as different as having a cold and being cold.
One condition is an illness, one condition is a feeling.

A depression filled mind is dangerous - add alcohol, and it can become deadly.

Perhaps 90% of all alcohol abusers exhibit signs of depression.

Suicide is a permanent non-solution for a temporary problem.

People with depression have a disease that can be managed,
with some diseases people do not have that choice.

(Thinking of suicide? 1-800-273-TALK)

Read this suicide prevention .pdf file.

"I've got to just let my mind go where it will. There's no stopping it from its own journey.
But music can take my mind to a nice place every time."

For those in alcohol recovery, try to associate songs to the here & now as opposed
to thoughts of the past. When a person relates songs to the present tense it can eliminate
any thoughts of alcohol use the songs may have previously evoked. Try it.

Alcohol abuse does NOT need to be a 'rite of passage'  for younger
people, yet it appears to be an accepted and widely practiced activity.
Why...?

HABITUAL  ABUSE  OF  ALCOHOL  IS  A  BEHAVIORAL  ILLNESS.

A girl said to me once:
"I had a razor blade in one hand, and the phone in the other hand.
I thought about something you said... and I chose to make a phone call."

"I had depression... I didn't know it... and I nearly died."

HISTORY        MERCHANDISE        CONTACT        MUSIC        STORIES

            How does hopeshot work?

           - Tommy K. plays guitar and sings popular songs.
           - People are (hopefully) attracted to the performance.
           - People are encouraged to learn about alcohol abuse & behavioral health.
           - There is literature & information available on the topic.
           - People read the literature and absorb the information.
           - Someday a life is possibly saved, maybe someone you know.

"I didn't know anything about depression, and I suffered from it. Some knowledge on the
subject could have spared me a lot of pain & time. I encourage people to learn about
depression not for themselves, but to possibly make someone else's life better. Anyone
can get depression, and they may not know that have it. Learn the warning signs,
know how to potentially recognize this illness in others. Maybe save a life."
